Player Expectations

Arapahoe Warriors | Player Expectations

As a member of the Arapahoe Warriors, you represent your team, your community, and the sport of hockey. The following expectations ensure a positive, respectful, and competitive environment for all players:

1. Play for the Love of the Game

Hockey should be fun. Keep a positive attitude and enjoy every moment on the ice, whether it’s practice or a game.

2. Strive for Growth

Give your best effort and focus on improving your skills on and off the ice. Consistent hard work leads to long-term development.

3. Show Respect

Respect your coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, and fans—always. Disrespectful behavior, including taunting, bullying, or abusive language, will not be tolerated.

4. Practice Good Sportsmanship

Win or lose, conduct yourself with class. Shake hands after games and support your teammates through all outcomes.

5. Play Fair

Follow the rules. Cheating, embellishing, or playing with the intent to harm others goes against everything we stand for.

6. Prioritize Teamwork

Support your teammates. Hockey is a team sport—put the team’s goals ahead of personal stats or recognition.

7. Be Committed

Attend all practices, games, and team events. Be on time, be prepared, and communicate in advance if you must miss something.

8. Demonstrate Dedication

Bring effort, focus, and energy every time you step on the ice. Strive to learn, grow, and push yourself.

9. Gear Up Properly

Wear all required safety equipment during games and practices. Take care of your gear—it’s your responsibility.

10. Stay in Control

Manage your emotions. Avoid outbursts, retaliation, or dangerous plays that could hurt you or someone else.

11. Be Responsible Off the Ice

No use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or drugs. Make smart choices that support your performance and your health.

12. Locker Room Conduct

Phones or other electronic devices are not permitted in locker rooms to protect the privacy and safety of all players.

13. Social Media Awareness

Think before you post. Represent yourself, your team, and the game in a positive way online.

14. Respect All Facilities

Treat rinks, locker rooms, hotels, and all public spaces with care. Clean up after yourself and leave things better than you found them.

15. Honor Personal Space and Property

Respect your teammates’ belongings and personal boundaries to maintain a trusting, team-first environment.

16. Listen and Learn

Be coachable. Listen to feedback, ask questions, and take initiative to improve your understanding of the game.

17. Report Injuries

Notify your coach or team staff immediately if you’re injured, even if it seems minor.

18. Communicate Respectfully

Keep open and respectful lines of communication with coaches, teammates, and parents. Don’t let small issues become big problems.

19. Lead by Example

Represent the Arapahoe Warriors with pride. On and off the ice, be someone younger players can look up to.

Consequences for Violations

Violations of the above expectations—especially bullying, abuse, or unsportsmanlike behavior—will be reported to the Arapahoe Youth Development Committee (YDC). Further action may be taken depending on the severity of the behavior.

This code of conduct is in place to maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for every player, family, coach, and official involved in Arapahoe Warriors hockey.
