Arapahoe Youth Hockey is proud to announce that Alex Netreba will be returning as the Head Coach of the Warriors 10UAA team for the upcoming season—his fifth consecutive year leading the team. Alex also serves as the Skills Coordinator and Director of Player Development for the Warriors Travel Program, where his impact continues to be felt across all levels of play.

A native of Ukraine, Alex represented his country as a member of the U18 World Junior Championship (Division 1B). After moving to Colorado to pursue greater hockey opportunities, he played a key role on the 2016–2017 Colorado Thunderbirds 18UAAA team that qualified for the National Tournament.

Since beginning his coaching career in 2017, Alex has developed a deep passion for mentoring youth players. His focus on skill development, positive reinforcement, and creating a competitive yet supportive environment has made him a cornerstone of the Warriors coaching staff. His leadership in the Squirt Division, combined with his dedication to the growth of every player both on and off the ice, continues to shape the future of the Warriors program.

Alex and his wife, Abigale, reside in Highlands Ranch with their daughter and two dogs.

Arapahoe Warriors Executive Director Kelly Hollingshead will be returning for his 5th year as the 12UAA head coach for the 2025-2026 season. 

With over 20 years of youth hockey coaching experience in Colorado, coach Hollingshead is very excited to be back behind the bench in pursuit of another successful season.

A native of Saskatchewan, Coach Hollingshead played youth, Tier 1 AAA and Junior hockey before accepting a scholarship to play at the University of Denver in 1992. Alongside fellow Arapahoe and Thunderbirds coaches and leadership, Garret Buzan and Angelo Ricci, the Pioneers were nationally ranked and competed in 2 NCAA tournaments. As a senior at the University of Denver coach Hollingshead was named team captain by his peers and coaches.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Hollingshead has coached at all youth levels including 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U which also included 9 years at the 15U/18U AAA level with the Colorado Thunderbirds program. 

Coach Matt grew up in Colorado and played his youth hockey with the Arapahoe Warriors and Colorado Outlaws. After his youth career, he played two years of Junior hockey for the Missoula Maulers in Montana. He returned to Colorado for the 2011–2012 season to begin his coaching career with the Arapahoe Warriors.

Over his early years with the Warriors, Coach Matt contributed to teams across multiple age levels, including Peewee AA, Peewee A, Bantam A, and 18U. He also spent two seasons coaching with the Mountain Vista High School CHSAA program.

This marks Coach Matt’s fourth season as the head coach of the Warriors 14UAA team. Last season, he led the team to a Colorado state championship and earned a berth at the 2025 USA Hockey National Championships.

Prior to rejoining the Warriors, Coach Matt spent eight seasons with the Colorado Thunderbirds, serving as the assistant coach for the 18UAAA team alongside Coach Hollingshead.

Coach Matt is excited to continue sharing his experience and passion for the game with Arapahoe Warriors players. His focus remains on helping every player reach their full potential and find success both on and off the ice.

Mark Popovic brings an outstanding combination of professional playing experience and elite player development to the Arapahoe Warriors. A former NHL defenseman, Mark was selected 35th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. During his 15-year professional career, he played in the NHL with Anaheim and Atlanta while also competing in the American Hockey League, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Switzerland's National League, and Austria's top professional league.

Following his playing career, Mark has become one of Colorado's premier hockey development coaches. He is the founder of Ignite Hockey and Perfect Skating Denver and currently serves as the Skills Coach for the Colorado Avalanche. His expertise in skating, skill development, and hockey IQ has helped players of all ages reach the next level.

As Head Coach of the Warriors' 16UAA National Bound team, Mark is committed to developing complete hockey players through skill development, accountability, and a competitive team-first culture. His passion for teaching, combined with his experience at the highest levels of the game, provides Warriors players with an exceptional opportunity to develop the skills, habits, and mindset needed for long-term success—both on and off the ice.

Lauren Spino is a former NCAA Division I athlete from Long Island University, where she earned her degree in Sport Management. Following her playing career, she has coached and mentored athletes with TPH Denver, focusing on skill development, leadership, and confidence both on and off the ice.

As Director of Girls Hockey for the Arapahoe Lady Warriors, Lauren’s vision is to continue building a strong, supportive environment where players can develop their skills, push themselves to new levels, and enjoy the game they love. She is passionate about creating opportunities for female athletes and ensuring every player feels valued throughout her hockey journey.

Josh grew up playing youth hockey in St. Louis, MO, playing for the Meramec Sharks AA and Team St. Louis AAA teams.  After moving to Colorado Josh continued to play hockey through High School and College- and is humbled to serve in what will be his 8^th year Coaching for the Arapahoe Warriors Organization.  Josh continues to enjoy playing adult hockey today and is an Ambassador for Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation, and active supporter of the Colorado Sled Hockey Organization.  

Jason comes from a rich history of Colorado hockey, starting with playing youth hockey in the Denver area and continuing his career at the University of Denver. He played defense on their varsity hockey team from 1999 to 2003. Jason was also a Colorado Avalanche Amateur Scout for many seasons. In addition, Jason has a strong background in coaching youth hockey in Colorado. From 8U to AAA, he enjoys seeing kids develop a passion for the game and developing their skills on and off the ice. Jason is currently the President of the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and has two Arapahoe hockey players: Jack, 2011 16U, and a Lady Warrior, Violet, a 2014 12U player.
